Definitely this is the portrait that took me more time to paint.
I wanted to paint my son since he started school with six years old and have a reference of that moment. Unfortunately, my son couldn’t stay still for a second. I tried everything to persuade him but none of my tricks, used with other children, worked then.
I thought finishing the portrait using a photograph but I refuse it. I always prefer to paint live for reflect better each person’s emotions through the light on his expressions.
I left this portrait away until my son came to remind me about it. This time he promised me to stay still and moreover, he asked me to sign the portrait in green (his favourite colour).
Even I use red for all my signatures I accepted for the first time and I ended changing the colour of the signature and writing the following dedication: “To my son with all my love”
And never to forget all the time I spent to finish this portrait I wrote also the year, 1995, three years since I started it.
